Growing up online - Building a digital future for minors, by minors

For today’s European minors, growing up means growing up online, with all the opportunities and risks that brings. Yet while children’s online safety dominates policy debates, the voices of young people themselves are often missing. To fill that gap, Euroconsumers surveyed teenagers aged 12 to 17 in Belgium, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Poland about their online experiences, concerns and needs. The findings offer a unique view of young people’s digital lives and a nuanced take on possible solutions, so that measures to protect teens online are “minor-proof”: grounded in their reality, supported by them, and designed to build a fair and safe digital ecosystem.
