Els Bruggeman
Group Manager Advocacy, Enforcement & Communication
In its response on the Digital Fairness Act, Euroconsumers and its member organisations in Spain, Italy, Belgium and Portugal argue that a competitive, innovative Europe depends on confident, informed and empowered consumers, and that protecting them is a foundation for innovation, not a brake on it. Their position rests on three pillars: first, closing the enforcement gap by properly applying existing consumer law; second, making rules clear, actionable and fit for the digital age, filling real gaps and tackling harmful or manipulative practices without overregulating or stifling beneficial innovation; and third, addressing the specific reality of minors online in a “minor-proof” way, built on their own experiences and expectations.
