Funded projects
BELT
Boost Energy Label Take up is a project funded by EU Horizon 2020 program which aims to promote the uptake of more efficient energy-related products.
The BELT project has the following three main goals:
- to facilitate the transition period to the new rescaled label, informing and training all principal stakeholders and market actors;
- to stimulate consumers to choose better energy performing products;
- to stimulate manufacturers to research and to further improve their products, thus, stimulating innovation and investment.
Expected outcomes:
Thanks to BELT, the transition process to the new rescaled label will be more easily performed providing training and technical guidance to manufacturers, distributors and retailers. Confusion and errors among consumers and public and business procurement staff will be
avoided through clear, bespoke and targeted communication campaigns.
BELT will create targeted communication campaigns for all stakeholders, it will organise workshops and events and it will develop training activities. The excellence of BELT stems from its multidisciplinary expertise and geographical coverage, being able to reach 20
million European stakeholders and 4.400 market actors.

MILE21
Three of Euroconsumers’ members, Test Achats/Test Aankoop (BE), Altroconsumo (IT) and
OCU (ES) are participating in MILE21 (More Information Less Emissions), an EU project funded by the Life+programme. The purpose of MILE21 is ‘Empowering Consumers for a Greener 21st Century’. The three-year project aims to inform consumers about the fuel consumption and tailpipe emissions of cars by providing an online tool that compares automobiles across the market.
Ultimately, MILE21’s ambition is nudge consumer behaviour, which in turn would force car manufacturers to increase the production of green cars. The platform will also allow users to keep track of their own fuel use. Because of the direct involvement of consumers, as well as the vehicle tests carried out on the road, MILE21 will also contribute to the collection of robust large-scale monitoring data. MILE21 will thereby support voluntary contribution to the collection of real-world fuel consumption data.
Expected outcomes:
● Compile detailed information on cars’ fuel consumption and tailpipe emission
● Develop a tool to compare real-world fuel consumption values of new and older car models sold in the EU
● Provide drivers with a tool to monitor their cars’ fuel consumption and encourage them to make their real-world figures available to the public.
● Support voluntary contributions to the collection of real-world fuel consumption data.

PROMPT
Two Euroconsumers’ members, OCU and Test Achats/Test Aankoop, are participating in PROMPT, a Horizon 2020 project to tackle the premature obsolescence of goods. In the last decade premature obsolescence has generated a considerable amount of waste. Electrical and electronic equipment waste is considered in the EU to be one of the fastest growing waste streams straining not only the environment but also consumers budgets.
At the core of the PROMPT project is the development of an independent testing program to support the assessment of the longevity of consumer projects when they are put out in the market. PROMPT aims at boosting durable design, providing access to repair services, upgrades and disassembly options. Furthermore, it intends to help reduce resource depletion, prevent waste generation and mitigate associated societal and environmental impacts.
Expected outcomes:
● Establish an independent testing programme for premature obsolescence for four EEE product groups
● Contribute to the assessment of the longevity of consumer products when they are put on the market.
● Assist the ongoing and future standardisation efforts
● Support voluntary contributions to the collection of real-world fuel consumption data.
● Provide designers and policymakers with recommendations on improving durability and reparability of products, empower consumers to make informed choices.

EVE
Electric mobility could significantly reduce air pollution caused by transport, due to less fossil fuel use, especially if the electricity is produced from renewable sources, but drive electric must be simple, affordable and easy our aim to this regard, the EVE project will be three fold: 1)to provide a multi-country video-evidence of people’s real needs and concerns,highlighting the major issues holding back the uptake of EVs (Charging infrastructure, range anxiety, motorways, batteries..) to mobilize decision-makers, car industries, car clubs, professional drivers and reduce the gap between the willingness to adopt the electric and the difficulties people face that must be addressed with concrete solutions or answers;
2)To raise awareness to citizens on the false myths, real benefits, propose tips and solutions to make mobility more sustainable and smarter using our experts’ advice but
also using other drivers such as peers’experience;3)Provide recommendations based on how consumers behave targeting local and national policy makers, Transport Authority pushing for a convenient easy charging infrastructure to be developed ensuring interoperability, choice of payment solutions method, maintenance of infrastructures.
